Have you always wanted to act? Come join us on stage where you can bring a character to life and allow the inner voice to be heard.

All those interested in performing on stage at Fort Mill Community Playhouse (FMCP) are welcome to audition. For musicals, come prepared to show off your voice with a song of your choice and always remember to bring the sheet music for accompaniment. For non-musicals you will be asked to read scenes from the script. Rehearsals are usually held Sunday through Thursday evenings. FMCP seeks to grow the diversity on our stage. We strongly encourage actors of color and of various nationalities to audition.

The Story:

The internationally popular game in now a fun-filled interactive musical that brings the world’s best-known suspects to life and invites the audience to help solve the mystery: who killed Mr. Boddy, in what room and with what weapon????

Cast members are bringing to life some of the most iconic and well-known board game characters in the world (second only to Monopoly!)

Cast members are expected to sing, dance, act, and move set pieces while carrying a story that can have up to 216 possible outcomes. Most characters are on stage for almost the entirety of the performance, so stamina is also important. The main quality for all characters is their ability to deliver a comedic performance with lively energy. Casting includes 4 male roles, 3 female roles, and an additional role that can be played by either gender. Looking to cast a group who work naturally with one another and have quality comedic chemistry.

Characters: 

 

Male Roles:

Mr. Black- Wealthy Aristocrat, Mysterious, and a tad strange (knows he will be murdered and is excited about it). Narrates and carries most of the story and knows the outcome of the mystery. Posh, arrogant, with a touch of Vincent Price.

Mr. Green– Wheeling, dealing businessman, always looking for the next con and the big payday. Think Goodfellas meets a not-so-smooth-talking Henry Hill (a New York/New Jersey accent is encouraged).

Col. Mustard- Colonel in the British Army who looks and acts like he’s fresh out of World War 1. Although he probably conned his way into making sure he never came near any real action. Older British gentleman officer with a touch of whimsy (British accent encouraged).

Prof. Plum– Self-proclaimed Oxford scholar, born and raised in Britain but “American by choice”. Arrogant and believes he is the smartest, most clever person in the room.

Female Roles:

The Detective– A wannabe Ms. Marple (or any other literary sleuth), she tries to sniff out the guilty party in a room full of questionable customers. She is cunning, but that can be overshadowed by her awkward and self-conscious demeanor.

Mrs. Peacock– Made wealthy from her inheritance from her numerous husbands (all mysteriously dead), she is a debutant who enjoys the life of high-society and will do whatever it takes to make sure she gets to maintain her status and power.

Ms. Scarlet– Former Vegas show girl turned lady of high society. Always believes she is the main attraction in any room she walks in. She has moved on from her showgirl ways, but can’t help bringing them out every so often, especially when garnering the attention of men.

Optional Gender Role:

Mrs. White- The friendly housekeeper straight out of London’s East End. She’s a no nonsense tell it like it is lady who feels like she’s always getting a raw deal in life. Eliza Doolittle meets Downton Abbey in this role. Originally cast as a male in drag, this role can be played by either male or female performers. (Cockney accent preferred)

What Is the Story of First Date?

When blind date newbie Aaron is set up with serial-dater Casey, a casual drink at a busy New York restaurant turns into a hilarious high-stakes dinner. As the date unfolds in real time, the couple quickly finds that they are not alone on this unpredictable evening. In a delightful and unexpected twist, Casey and Aaron’s inner critics take on a life of their own, as other restaurant patrons transform into supportive friends, manipulative exes, and protective parents who sing and dance their way through the evening’s unfolding drama. Can this couple turn what could be a dating disaster into something truly special before the check arrives?

Cast Breakdown

Aaron: Late 20s-30s, male. Tenor. New Yorker. Jewish investment banker. Nervous and trying too hard, as this is his first blind date.

Casey: Late 20s-30s, female. Great belt/mix voice. Bold and daring, but uses humor and controversy as a defense mechanism.

Man #1 (Jewish Chorus, Gabe, Edgy British Guy): 20s-30s, male. Baritone/tenor. Versatile actor, portraying Aaron’s confident childhood best friend, Casey’s edgy ex, and more.

Woman #1 (Grandma Ida, Lauren, Aaron’s Mother): 25-40, female. Belt/mix with soprano. Various roles include Casey’s perfectionist sister and Aaron’s well-meaning yet critical relatives.

Man #2 (Reggie, Aaron’s Future Son, Edgy Rocker Guy): Late 20s-30s, male. Tenor. Vibrant performer portraying Casey’s dramatic best friend, rebellious past love interests, and more.

Woman #2 (Allison, Jewish Chorus, Others): 25-35, female. Must have a strong belt voice with some soprano. Plays Aaron’s controlling ex-fiancé and other vivid characters.

Man #3 (Waiter, Casey’s Father, Friendly Therapist): 35-45, male. Baritone/tenor. Plays a poetic waiter, Casey’s super-Christian father, and others.

Synopsis:
